Party on, Moochi!
The best food at a fashion party that
I've ever seen- usually one starves with the models but
to moochi's commendation they balanced the alcohol served
with a variety of non-alcoholic drinks and delicious gourmet
snacks.
My fave were the crab and apple salads
served in martini glasses and wild mushroom risottos.
But enough of the food, what of the fashion?...
Designer, Kellie Taylor
Moochi designer Kellie Taylor spoke to
friends and fans last night in the beautiful white space,
of her and husband Chris' vision and excitement at the
launch and growth of their label and in particular of
this winter's collection and themes. Kellie wore the 'School
Top', a v-necked knit longsleeve top screenprinted with
two self-stripes that echo the theme of 'shadows'.
The Winter range, Shadow
The moochi winter 2003 collection, entitled
Shadow, plays with ideas of light and dark and even blindness.
Some garments had 'MOOCHI' embossed into the sweatshirting
in braille, interestingly using capital letters as the
braille looked better than their usual lower case font.
The Shadow range features a number of
fabrics in varying textures, including corduroy and stitched
pinstripes, while in other instances the right and wrong
side of the fabric are mixed to show the contrast between
matt and shine.
Incredibly friendly staff
Unlike many fashion shop-girls, the staff
at moochi strike one with their friendliness and lack
of attitude. They were a walking fashion show of the winter
range, and wore it well and one feels it would be a pleasure
to shop here, instead of feeling like you're interrupting
their conversations with each other!
Interior Design of Moochi
As always, Moochi’s design principles
are seen in every aspect of the business, from the layout
of the stores themselves to the actual garments. A mesh-encased
block of large, ice-white stones in the Newmarket store
has drawn countless enquiries from shoppers as to its
origins - being of course one of the Taylors’ own creations.
The Moochi corner store at Vulcan and High Streets is
pure; in white concrete with awnings over the historic
building's windows.
A look undeniably Moochi
The range has expanded from a capsule
wardrobe to a complete look, from day to evening and beach
to bed and the feel has remained the same. From the sexiest
little 100 per cent silk blouson to the sturdiest khaki
drill pants, every garment has a clean fresh feel that
is undeniably Moochi.
