MARKS & Spencer today unveiled
its folk-inspired autumn fashion range which it hopes
will entice younger women back into its stores.
The launch comes after chief executive
Stuart Rose said the chain's "dowdy" reputation
among shoppers was partly to blame for a 19 per cent fall
in annual profits.
Next season's Per Una collection features
fake fur, full skirts, embroidered woollen jumpers and
"unstructured" tailoring. Describing the new
range, an M&S spokesman said layering would be an
important look for the autumn.
She said: "It is about moving the
boho look into more folk styling." Among the different
looks previewed at London's Music Room were Russian Roulette,
Modern Folk and English Eccentrics. Per Una was first
launched in September 2001.
It is aimed at women aged 25 or over.
The new collection is due in the shops from August.
