The Annamalai University will offer
professional courses in textile, interior and fashion
designing, its Vice Chancellor L B Venkatrangan, said
here yesterday.
Inaugurating a National Institute of
Fashion Design (NIFD) at Choolai, he said the university
was offering 326 programmes through distance education
including professional and diploma course. All these courses
were innovative and job-oriented.
Rishi Aggarwal, NIFD director, said
the institute, recognised by government, had been imparting
quality education in fashion and interior design. Students
of any stream after passing their tenth or plus two exam
could apply for the course and be assured of a bright
career.
Niharika Singh, who represented India
at the Miss Earth pageant who was present along with Sindhura
Gadde, Femina Miss India, said, the 'NIFD helps students
pursue quality education right at their doorstep'.
Aditi Srivastava, vice president, NIFD
corporate, said,' We are offering three-year B.S, 2 years
Advance Diploma and one-year Diploma programmes in Fashion
Design, Textile Design and Interior Design'.
NIFD also launched three specialised
courses in Apparel Manufacturing Marketing and Merchandising,
Garment Manufacturing Technology,Knitwear Design and Technology.
