The head of the Paris-based satellite
channel Fashion TV has been arrested in Israel on suspicion
of indecent assault, Israeli police have said.
Police spokesman Avi Zelba said Tel Aviv police arrested
Michel Adam on Saturday night after a complaint by a young
model who accused Mr Adam of assaulting her at a Tel Aviv
nightclub. Magistrates have ordered that Mr Adam be placed
under house arrest for six days.
Ynet, the internet service of the Yediot
Ahronot newspaper, reported that the model, about 20 years
old, had said that Mr Adam and a local model agent, Shai
Avital, followed her separately to the women's bathroom
at the Fashion Bar in Tel Aviv and each forcibly kissed
her on the neck and put his hand in her underwear. Mr
Avital was released on bail.
Ynet quoted Mr Adam's lawyer, Sassi Gaz, as denying the
charge against his client, who founded FTV in 1997.
The channel broadcasts fashion shows
and news 24 hours a day to 140 countries, and recently
joined the Sky Media channel portfolio.
