FASHION, PRATO EXPO: AUTUMN-WINTER
COLLECTION LIKE DOLL HOUSE
(AGI) - Milan, Italy, June 13 - "We'll have more
and more tweed and velvet" said Li Edelkoort, opening
the Prato Expo this morning. He will present the 2006-2007
autumn-winter collection from the 15th to the 17th September
in Fortezza di Basso, Florence. The event, at its 54th
edition, will present informal clothes, both for men and
women. "Over the past 10 years - said Edelkoort -
fashion meant shoes, shoes, shoes, bags, bags, bags. Now
we are going back to clothes, shapes and colours, and
we like it". "Imagine a doll house. If a doll
is not dressed well, it will be thrown away and replaced.
That's what the consumer does. This game stimulates creativity,
and therefore, the economy". The first room in the
doll house is the library. "A man's environment -
he says - with ancient colours. Youngsters don't necessarily
like everything that's new. We will blend velvet and tweed,
to obtain unique items". Then comes the solarium
"the zone of creative consumers, with lots of colours",
just as in the playing room, "a playful environment,
inspired by dolls". Finally, the kitchen, "with
a touch of romanticism, but very simple. A blast from
the past, with lots of white and neutral colours, to exalt
everyday living". Pratotrade president Riccardo Marini
summarises the idea as follows: "we don't want to
make anonymous textiles, we want them to be expressive".
