Will Tommy be the next Tommy?
Chicago fashion designer Tommy Walton
is one of 16 contestants on an upcoming CBS reality series
that aims to find the nation's next style setter.
The host of "The Cut," debuting
June 9, is clothing icon Tommy Hilfiger, who will present
challenges to the wannabes and judge their results. The
winner will design a collection under the Hilfiger label.
Comparisons to Bravo's similar fashionista
showdown "Project Runway" are inevitable.
Walton, 42, is a veteran Chicago couture
designer and a fashion instructor at the School of the
Art Institute. With partner Roger Price, he was a winner
of the Marshall Field's Distinction in Design competition
in 2001.
Two other Chicagoans also made "The
Cut." Their last names were not released, but CBS
identified them as 26-year-old stylist Amy and 42-year-old
salesman Jeff.
