Rohit Khosla

Rohit Khosla, (November 29, 1958 -1994), was a pioneer of Indian fashion. He started his own label in 1987, along with his sister, designer, Rohini Khosla.

He did his schooling from The Doon School, Dehradun and came into the Indian fashion scene when it was still a nascent industry and left his mark on Indian Fashion, during his short years, as he died in 1994.

In 1987, he co-founded Ensemble, India's popular designer label store in New Delhi, with Tarun and Sal Tahiliani, which started with five labels: Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Khosla, Neil Bieff, Amaya, Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla, Sonam Dobal and JJ Valaya.

In 1998, Rohini Khosla published a book on his life and work, titled, “Rohit Khosla, Vanguard by Rohini Khosla” and in the 2007 India Fashion Week paid a tribute to him, with designers like, Rohit Bal dedicating his collection to him. The annual 'India Zee F Awards', presents the Rohit Khosla Award for 'Debutante Designer of the Year'.

Ritu Beri

Ritu Beri is an Indian fashion designer. She is the first Asian designer to head the French fashion brand, Scherrer.

CareerRitu Beri studied fashion arts at the NIFT, New Delhi. She is the only Indian designer to be featured in promostyl's magazine Acustyl, which forecasts fashion trends, worldwide. She is the author of the personal fashion book, 101 Ways to Look Your Best. She also serves on the board of Governors at NIFT, and is an honorary patron of the Savera Association, a popular charity involved in improving the lives of Indian woman.

Ritu Beri is married to business man Bobby Chadha and one has child named Jiya with him.

Mohammad Mehdi - Pakistani Fashion designer

After completing his degree in 2001, Mehdi took up his passion for sculpture and pottery but decided to switch to fashion designing in 2002, by creating a small collection. Its success led to the launch of the label Mehdi in 2004. Today Mehdi is one of the top most brands of Pakistan, producing and delivering the most stunning and glamourous designs for the people in love with fashion.

Last year Mehdi’s show titled "Vanity Fair" met tremendous success and fame in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. After that he showed that line in New York, Houston, Miami, Chicago and California with all the top models from Pakistan. His “Viva Glam” the spring summer collection in citric colours won the hearts of many showed at the beginning of the season. Mehdi creates western outfits, evening wear, formal dresses, Sarees and bridal dresses. Mehdi will also be introducing his ready to wear line in the market here and abroad towards the end of 2007.

Issey Miyake - Japanese Designer

Miyake was born 22 April 1938 in Hiroshima, Japan, and studied graphic design at the Tama Art University in Tokyo, graduating in 1964. After graduation, he worked in Paris and New York City. Returning to Tokyo in 1970, he founded the Miyake Design Studio.

Mr. Miyake "oversees the overall direction of all lines created by his company", even though the individual collections have been designed by his staff since his 'retirement' from the fashion world in 1997.

Issey Miyake - main collection line, subdivided into men (since 1978/85) and women (since 1971) collections, designed by Dai Fujiwara (succeeded Naoki Takizawa in 2006)

Issey Miyake Fête - colorful women's line that "draws on the technological innovations of Pleats Please" (Fête means 'celebration' in French) (since 2004)

Pleats Please Issey Miyake - polyester jersey garments for women that are first "cut and sewn and then pleated (normally, fabric is first pleated and then cut and sewn )" "to permanently retain washboard rows of horizontal, vertical or diagonal knife-edge pleats." (since 1989/93)

HaaT - women's line, designed by Miyake's former textile designer, Makiko Minagawa. HaaT means 'village market' in Sanskrit, the word sound similar to 'heart' in English. (since 2000).

A-POC - custom-collection for men and women. Tubes of fabric are machine-processed and can be cut into various shapes by the consumer. A-POC is an acronym of 'a piece of cloth', and a near homonym of 'epoch'. (since 1997)
me Issey Miyake - line of "exclusive one-sized shirts that stretch to fit the wearer" that are sold in plastic tube, named Cauliflower for the non-Asian market. (since 2001)

Issey Miyake maintains a freestanding store, named ELTTOB TEP Issey Miyake (reverse for 'Pet Bottle') in Osaka where the full array of lines is available.

21-21 Design Sight (a play on 20/20 vision) is a museum-style research center for design, constructed by Tadao Ando, that was opened in Roppongi, Tokyo in March 2007. The center is headed by Issey Miyake and four other Japanese designers, and operated by The Miyake Issey Foundation.
The Miyake Issey Foundation, founded in Tokyo in 2004, operates the 21_21 Design Sight center, organizes exhibitions and events, and publishes literature.

Louis Vuitton Malletier - French Designer

Louis Vuitton Malletier, also referred to as Louie Vuitton or sometimes shortened to LV, is a French luxury fashion and leather goods brand and company, one of the main divisions of LVMH headquartered in Paris, France. Known especially for bags and trunks, the company collaborates with prominent figures for marketing and design (most notably supermodel Gisele Bündchen and fashion designer Marc Jacobs). Internationally renowned and highly regarded for name recognition in the fashion world, as a result LV has become one of the most counterfeited contemporary luxury brands.

LV is also one of the oldest fashion houses in the world, having started in 1854. It sells its products strictly through its own retail stores and online (as an effort against counterfeit). It primarily competes with Versace, Gucci, Chanel, Armani, Prada and similar luxury fashion brands.

Marc Jacobs - American Fashion Designer

Marc Jacobs (born April 9, 1963 in New York City) is an American fashion designer. He is the head designer for Marc Jacobs, as well as the diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs. Jacobs is currently the Creative Director of the prestigious French design house Louis Vuitton.In 1997, Jacobs was appointed Creative Director of luxury French fashion house, Louis Vuitton, where he created the company's first ready-to-wear line. Jacobs is famous for collaborating with many popular artists for his Louis Vuitton collections. Vuitton has worked in conjunction with Steven Sprouse, Takashi Murakami and most recently American artist Richard Prince.

Jacobs is notorious for his peculiar choices in models for his advertising campaigns. For example, in Spring 2007, Jacobs chose child actress Dakota Fanning to star in his ad campaign. All the clothes were shrunk, and the shoes made in children's sizes for the young actress. His ad campaigns have also featured the musicians Steven Malkmus, Jarvis Cocker and Michael Stipe of R.E.M.. Chloë Sevigny has also appeared in Marc Jacobs advertisements. The russian pop duo t.A.T.u. became the faces of Marc by Marc Jacobs for the fall-winter ’08 campaign in Russia.

Amir Adnan - The Man, The Label

Amir Adnan is a popular Pakistani fashion label for men.

Amir Adnan is widely credited with re-introducing the sherwani into modern fashion, and known as Pakistan's first international menswear label. Currently, Amir Adnan is the largest enterprise of designer clothing in Pakistan, and caters to an upper-class clientele. Among Amir Adnan's clientele are former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Amir Adnan currently houses its flagship store in Karachi, with complimenting domestic stores in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Islamabad. International outlets include Dubai.

Rohit Bal - Indian Designer

Rohit Bal is a New Delhi, India based fashion designer. He designs for men and women, and has bridal and evening collections in addition to day-wear and ready-to-wear. Rohit started his career with his brother in 1986, and started his own first independent collection in 1990. Today, his masterpieces are sold at $15,000 and above.

Some of his clients include celebrities like Uma Thurman, Cindy Crawford, Pamela Anderson, Naomi Campbell and Anna Kournikova.

Most of the Rohit Bal's fashion shows in India, New York, Paris, and Singapore are sponsored by The Swatch Group, and he is the brand ambassador for their Omega Watches, since 2001.
