Los Angeles Fashion Week opened in the true L.A. fashion with fine celebrities, diversity, rock and roll and even irreverence.

Sunday nights debut at Smashbox Studios was covered the design spectrum, from local-favorite Louis Verdad’s fresh, sassy cuts, to Sue Wong’s ornate dresses, and also Japanese denim-maker Evisus funky fits.

Featuring the designers 2007 spring collections, the showings sets the tone of Mercedes-Benz L.A. Fashion Week, a full series of 32 shows over five days, which continues to earn respect in the fashion world in recent years.

Fashion fund-raiser for cancer

A Charity fashion show in the aid of Cancer Research UK takes place in Whittlesey coming week.

Each year, over 41,000 women in the UK found out to have breast cancer but, thanks to research, better treatment and also earlier detection, the death rate has fallen down by a fifth over the past decade.

The fashion show takes place at the Sir Harry Smith Community College, in Eastrea Road, coming Thursday, from 7pm.

Women who are ovulating tend to pay more attention to their looks, perhaps in a hidden effort to attract a class mate, according to researchers at UCLA and the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire.

"They tend to put on skirts instead of good pants, show more skin and generally dress more fashionably," said study coauthor Martie Haselton, an associate professor of communication studies and psychology at UCLA.

Models fall during Fashion Shows

Two fashion models were caught on the tape falling to the ground during fashion week shows in Paris, according to a Local 6 News report.

One of the models fell at the British designer Vivienne Westwood's show and the other at Karl Lagerfeld's show

In both cases, the models got up and also kept showing their designer clothes, the report said.

Meanwhile, Lagerfeld sent out crop tunics and her skinny jeans in his spring-summer collection for his eponymous label showing Wednesday at Paris Fashion Week.

China debuts at Paris fashion week

China has jagged up an inch in the world's competitive fashion industry. For the first time, one of the country's designers is taking part in Paris's renowned Fashion Week. Not only is this it is a first for a Chinese designer, but Frankie Xie's label, Jefen, opened the 2007 Spring-Summer Paris Fashion Week.

The Paris debut puts Jefen among the top fashion labeled as Chanel, Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino and Givenchy, all of which would present on the official eight-day calendar of catwalk shows.
